Mold trials —
dedicated in-house injection molding machine.
We validate every mold on a dedicated in-house injection molding machine before delivery: process parameters, measured sample parts, complete report. The transfer to the customer production starts from a reliable data base.

Uniform has an injection molding machine dedicated exclusively to mold trials and sampling. Every new mold is tested in-house before delivery: we define the process window (melt temperature, pressure, cooling time), carry out the setup, produce the sample parts and entrust their measurement to qualified external suppliers. The final report certifies dimensional conformity and repeatable process parameters, ready to be transferred to the customer machine.

How we run a mold trial
-
01
Mold setup on the dedicated in-house injection molding machine
We mount the mold on the dedicated in-house injection molding machine, connect the temperature control circuit and prepare the customer material (or an equivalent for preliminary trials).
-
02
Definition of the process window
We run the first injections with conservative parameters, then systematically optimize temperature, pressure and cycle time until we find the stable and repeatable process window.
-
03
Sampling and part measurement
We produce a set of sample parts under optimal conditions and entrust their measurement to qualified external suppliers. Each cavity is verified individually to detect any filling imbalances.
-
04
Report delivery and data transfer
We deliver the complete sampling report with the certified process parameters and ship the sample parts to the customer, ready for internal verification and an immediate production restart.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
-
Which in-house injection molding machine do you have available for mold trials?
We have an Arburg 2000-400 in-house injection molding machine (200 t clamp force) with an interchangeable screw, dedicated exclusively to in-house trials and sampling. The interchangeable screw allows a wide range of plastic materials to be processed; part weight is between 6 g and 250 g. For molds requiring higher clamp forces, we work with partner molders equipped with horizontal presses up to 600 t and vertical presses up to 150 t, with the guaranteed presence of our technician throughout the session. -
What is included in the sampling report?
The sampling report includes: optimal machine parameters (melt temperature, mold temperature, injection pressure, holding pressure, cycle time), dimensional measurements of sample parts on all the critical dimensions of the drawing, part weight per cavity, photographs of the parts produced and of any defects found with an indication of the corrective actions taken. The report is signed by the technical manager. -
Do you also run mold trials for molds built by others?
Yes, we offer mold trials and sampling also for molds not built by Uniform, particularly when the customer needs an independent assessment of the mold before putting it into production. We receive the mold, run the trial with the material indicated by the customer and deliver the complete technical report. -
How many shots are produced during a typical mold trial?
The number of shots depends on the complexity of the mold and the objectives of the trial. A trial on a simple mold typically requires 50 to 100 shots to stabilize the process and produce the dimensional samples. Complex multi-cavity molds or critical geometries may require sessions of 200 to 300 shots to properly validate the process window and the balance between cavities.
