Uniform performs routine and extraordinary maintenance and reconditioning on injection molds from all builders, not only on molds built in-house. We address all the main causes of degradation: premature wear of the molding surfaces, corrosion and oxidation, part ejection problems, structural damage, anomalies in gas venting and cooling, contaminant buildup. When possible, the mold making department produces spare parts and replacement inserts quickly, minimizing the customer production downtime.

How we handle a repair
-
01
Mold receipt and diagnosis
We receive the mold and carry out a complete diagnosis: visual inspection, dimensional check of the critical dimensions, movement test of ejectors and channels.
-
02
Repair quotation
We issue a detailed quotation with a list of interventions, required spare parts and estimated lead times. No work is carried out without the customer written approval.
-
03
Repair and spare parts machining
We carry out the repairs with the same machines and skills used for construction: CNC, EDM, laser welding, grinding. The spare parts are produced with certified steels.
-
04
Mold trial and return
After the repair we run a mold trial on the press to verify functionality. The return includes the intervention report and the verified dimensional measurements.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
-
Do you repair molds built by other manufacturers?
Yes, we work on molds from any builder, Italian or foreign. The mold does not need to have been built by Uniform. We need the available technical documentation (preferably the CAD mold layout) and, if it is missing, we carry out a dimensional survey directly from the physical mold before starting the work. -
What are the typical times for a repair?
Timing depends on the type of intervention. It is defined in the quotation after diagnosing the mold, based on the type of failure and the required spare parts. In case of documented urgency, we activate the priority service with reduced times. -
How do you handle mold changes for product modifications?
Changes are handled exactly like a new design: we receive the new CAD of the modified part, carry out the feasibility analysis on the existing cavity and propose the modification options (replacement inserts, welding with re-machining, new cavity). The technical documentation of the modification is included in the mold data sheet. -
Is it possible to schedule maintenance without stopping production?
Yes, we offer preventive maintenance plans with regular inspections agreed based on the number of shots made. The plan provides for scheduled interventions during the customer production downtime, so as not to stop production. The maintenance log is kept up to date at every intervention.
