High-precision injection mold making:
5-axis CNC, EDM, turning.
From the approved design to the finished mold: 5-axis CNC milling, sinking and wire EDM, precision grinding. All in-house, on certified steels, with CMM dimensional control of the critical dimensions before assembly.

Once the design is approved, machining starts directly: the programs for the milling centers are prepared by the CAM department; on the lathe and the wire EDM, programming is done directly at the machine, where the operator has direct control over execution. The department is equipped with 5-axis milling centers, CNC turning, sinking EDM with copper electrodes milled in-house, wire EDM and precision grinding machines. On the lathe we machine inserts, bushings, pins and rotationally symmetric components in-house, with high concentricity and surface finish, without relying on outside suppliers. We use certified tool steels with documented heat treatments and chemical analysis certificates. Before assembly, the CMM control verifies the critical dimensions of the components in-house.

From the approved design to the finished mold
-
01
Procurement of certified steel
The steel grade is already defined in the design. We order the semi-finished products from qualified suppliers with chemical analysis and hardness certificates.
-
02
CNC and EDM machining with intermediate control
The CNC programs are run according to the sequence defined by the engineering department. Before heat treatment, the intermediate dimensional control verifies the critical dimensions on cavities and inserts.
-
03
Heat treatment and precision grinding
The components are sent to certified suppliers with a hardness certificate on return. Final grinding brings every dimension back to the design tolerance after heat treatment.
-
04
CMM control, assembly and trial
Before assembly, the CMM control verifies the critical dimensions of the components, an in-house step to guarantee construction quality. The mold is then assembled and the function of ejectors, guides and injection system is verified before the trial.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
-
What are the maximum sizes of the molds you build?
The maximum sizes machinable in-house are 900 × 600 × 500 mm on 3 axes and 400 × 400 × 300 mm on 5 axes, with components machinable up to 1 tonne and internal handling up to 5 tonnes. For larger molds, technical direction remains in-house at Uniform, we design, generate the CNC programs and manage final testing, while extra-large machining is entrusted to qualified partners. -
Which steel types do you use and how do you choose the right one?
The choice depends on the molded material, the required surface treatment and the expected production volume. We use high-alloy, hardened and wear-resistant steels, selected according to the application; for corrosive molded materials we use stainless steels. Every material is supplied with a chemical analysis certificate. -
Is CMM control an integral part of the workflow?
Yes. CMM dimensional control is an integral part of our process: before assembly we measure the critical dimensions of cavities, cores, ejectors and guides, as an in-house verification of construction quality. In case of deviations, we make the corrections before the trial at no extra cost. -
Do you build molds with an integrated hot runner?
Yes. We install hot runner systems from qualified suppliers, Mold-Masters, Ewikon, Husky, Günther, when the project requires it: materials sensitive to residence time in the runner, high-output multi-cavity molds, visible parts with a controlled injection point. The hot runner seat is sized and integrated into the CAD design from the start. The technical and economic assessment between hot runner and cold runner is part of the design analysis.
