Introduction
The personal care and cosmetic sector is among the most demanding both aesthetically and functionally: every closure, every dispenser, every dispensing component is under the close scrutiny of buyers and end users. Over the years Uniform has developed specific expertise in beauty packaging, with molds for single and two-color flip-top caps, threaded caps, dispensers, trigger sprayers, push-pull components and aerosol parts in PP, PE and HDPE — materials compatible with cosmetic formulations — from the most traditional designs to more complex constructions, for high production volumes up to millions of cycles. Our multi-cavity molds reach a standard of up to 64 cavities.
In this sector even the smallest detail makes the difference: mold quality is the starting point for conveying an idea of beauty. We work with in-mold closing (IMC) systems and, where required, with unscrewing systems. Every mold is designed to ensure repeatable cycles, balanced cavities and optimized cooling.
Technical features
Snap-fit, unscrewing and IMC systems: technical solutions for cosmetic packaging.
The snap-fit systems of flip-top caps and closures are designed taking into account the deformation and shrinkage of polypropylene. For threaded closures we work with unscrewing systems integrated into the mold, with controlled ejection to ensure the dimensional repeatability of the thread. IMC systems allow the cap to be closed directly in the mold at the end of the cycle, reducing manual steps.
Flip-top closures require zero production stoppages and reliability for millions of cycles. We design molds with optimized cooling, reduced cycle times and a valve-gate hot runner for a clean injection point, minimal waste and maximum process stability. The sealing surfaces are machined by grinding and sinking EDM with finishes down to VDI 19.

Compatibility between the packaging material and the cosmetic formulation is a critical factor in ensuring the quality and stability of the final product. We build molds optimized for the materials chosen by the customer — PP, PE, HDPE and other polymers compatible with cosmetic formulations — to ensure regulatory compliance, protection of the formulation integrity and product stability throughout its life. On request we support the customer as early as the product development stage and in evaluating the process characteristics of the chosen material. The sample parts produced with the mold can be tested by the customer or by external laboratories to verify compatibility with the formulation.

What are the typical lead times for a cosmetic packaging mold?
Lead times vary according to the complexity of the part and the number of cavities. For a single-cavity mold of medium complexity we count 8–10 weeks from receiving the final CAD to project approval. Multi-cavity molds or complex geometries — two-color flip-tops, IMC systems, unscrewing — require 12–16 weeks. -

Yes. Our structure is geared to supporting customers with high production volumes: multi-cavity molds, valve-gate hot runners, optimized cooling and repeatable cycles are the basis of our approach. For large-series production we guarantee process stability and reliability for millions of cycles. -

Yes. We support the customer as early as the initial development stages, with continuous, transparent dialogue at every step: from evaluating the process characteristics of the chosen material, to producing samples for compatibility tests with the formulation, through to final product approval.
